The Department of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (RAI) at Annasaheb Dange College of Engineering & Technology, Ashta offers a B.Tech. Program in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. This new program has been introduced from the Academic Year 2025–2026 with a sanctioned intake capacity of 60 students.
The Government of India has recognized Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (RAI) as a key thrust area in the era of Industry 4.0. Robotics and AI are revolutionary technologies transforming every aspect of human life, industry, and society. This broad domain includes Autonomous Systems, Intelligent Control, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Internet of Things (IoT), Embedded Systems, and Human–Robot Interaction.
In this age of digital transformation and automation, intelligent robotic systems are being developed that can perceive, analyze, make decisions, and perform tasks autonomously. Applications of Robotics and AI can be seen in Advanced Manufacturing, Smart Agriculture, Health Care and Surgery, Pharmacy Automation, Transportation and Autonomous Vehicles, Banking and Finance, Disaster Management, Defense, Service Robotics, Digital Media, and Governance.
The motivation behind launching this program is to build a skilled workforce capable of addressing the growing demand for Robotics and AI professionals in national and multinational organizations, as well as to nurture innovation, entrepreneurship, and research in this emerging domain.
The curriculum is designed following Outcome Based Education (OBE) with inputs from renowned academicians, researchers, and industry practitioners in the field of Robotics and AI. The program emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, integrating the fundamentals of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics with advanced courses in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence technologies. It further provides opportunities for industrial training, internships, and project-based learning, enabling students to gain practical exposure and align themselves with the latest industry trends and real-world applications.
As per the requirements of the program, state-of-the-art laboratories and infrastructure are being developed, and the department aspires to establish a Center of Excellence in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence to promote a strong research and innovation culture.
